Blackboard

Blackboard is the learning management system (LMS, sometimes also referred to as a course management system) that has been selected by the University of Kentucky. Blackboard provides instructors with a web presence, but does not require them to know web programming.

Blackboard Access

Blackboard is a web-based system accessible by all members of the University of Kentucky community. Instructors and students can use their link blue username and password to log into Blackboard.

To log in to Blackboard,

  1. Go to the Blackboard web site at elearning.uky.edu.
  2. In the "Login Here" section, enter your link blue user name and password. Do NOT enter ad\ or mc\ in front of your username.
  3. Click the Login button to access your courses.
  4. When you have finished with the Blackboard system, be sure to click on the Logout button (at the top of the screen) to exit and close access to your Blackboard account.

If you are unable to log in to Blackboard via the above process, please contact the APAT Service Desk.

Blackboard Orientation Training

UKIT provides many training options to those wishing to learn more about using Blackboard. One online training option is our Academic Technology Training Library, designed to offer straightforward, step-by-step "how to" instructions on a variety of topics. The Getting Started with Blackboard Basics tutorial quickly covers the steps needed to get up and running with a new course, while other guides focus on Advanced Features or offer in-depth instruction on popular components such as the Grade Center and Tests and Surveys.

Blackboard University, another online training option, offers a series of self-paced, comprehensive, online tutorials presented within Blackboard itself. These courses take longer to complete than the tutorials in the Academic Technology Training Library, but they are designed to provide a more thorough understanding of Blackboard and online learning in general.

In person training is available through group workshops and one-on-one targeted support sessions provided by our Scholars Team. For upcoming workshop topics and times, see our training calendar. Special topics workshops may be requested by colleges or departments for groups of instructors from their area.

For more information or to make a request, please visit our Blackboard Training Options page or contact the APAT Service Desk.
